A Deed Without a Name is a short but sweet read about the legacies of Traditional Witchcraft. This book outlines many topics such as the very definition of identities, history, certain historical acts or rituals such as the Sabbat or Hedge-crossing, types of entities, pacts, personal entries from a range of witches, and a few examples of pre-planned rituals or spells. The artwork is beautiful and the text is written out well so it is a fun read, although there may be a feeling of randomness to the order of chapters at times. The book does have a nice reference list, but no in-text citations so the reader will have to search through other texts to look further into the claims. I did find the book was quite cis-heteronormative, as I know a lot of the early history is, and so may not 100% resonate with the LGBTQ+ community in these specific parts.
Overall I enjoyed this read! Although only a brief introduction into Traditional Witchcraft, it allows the reader to get a feel for these topics before going elsewhere to delve deeper.
