Pagan Portals: Poppets and Magical Dolls. Dolls for Spellwork, Witchcraft, and Seasonal Celebrations by Lucya Starza.
Poppets and Magical Dolls is a short and sweet read by Lucya Starza, touching on how to make and use poppets, which materials can be used, spells that include dolls and poppets, how to deconstruct your poppet once it’s no longer needed, and dolls used all around the world. There are some brilliant pieces of advice within these pages, such as leaving only biodegradable and non-toxic items outside and to not contribute to pollution, bodily fluids safety advice, general safety advice about magic not replacing medical help, sex positive themes, a lovely paragraph on cultural appropriation and contains references at the end!
There are only a few points in which I personally disagree. Lucya recommends using pure wool over other alternatives. This is fine for some, however it is does not take into account people who avoid using animal products due to welfare and/or environmental reasons.
