Plant Witchery by Juliet Diaz

Plant Witchery: Discover the Sacred Language, Wisdom, and Magic of 200 Plants by Juliet Diaz.

Plant Witchery by Juliet Diaz is a stunning book full of amazing wisdom and beautiful art. Within its pages, it contains teachings such as what magic is, plant wisdom, the sun and moon, the seasons, how to use plants in your craft, along with a big compendium of plants which includes knowledge, history, and ways to use them. Plant Witchery also contains some great advice, such as alternative herbs to use for smoke cleansing, herb safety warnings, and general knowledge on medicinal, magical, and folkloric information of plants. What I really like about this book, is that it includes less common plants that aren’t included in other books, so it has become a great resource in my craft!

This book touches on a large and wide variety of plants which is great, however there are little correspondences and little explanation of those correspondences included with each plant. This will be fine for many people who want to learn about the medicinal/magical uses of the plant, however for those that want to learn in depth knowledge about planetary, deity, energetic, mineral, or tarot correspondences and why, this book may not be for you.
The plants are sometimes referred to as ‘she’, which, depending on the reader, may or may not be the best wording. I think the gender (if at all) of a plant is subjective to the reader. There is no bibliography or reference section, therefore we cannot trace the information back to sources.

This book is a great addition to anyone’s bookshelf. It contains insightful information about common, and uncommon plants alike.
